Comprehensive Health & Safety, Insurance and Safeguarding Policy

1. Organisational Commitment to Health & Safety

Empowered Women of Diaspora CIC (Company No. 15525395) is committed to ensuring

the health, safety and wellbeing of all volunteers, contractors, performers, participants and

the public during all organisational activities and events.

2. Health & Safety Arrangements

EWD maintains written safety arrangements aligned with UK legislation, including safe

working procedures, emergency processes, risk controls and clarity of responsibilities.

3. Risk Assessment

A written risk assessment is completed for each project, identifying hazards and

implementing control measures. Technical contractors must supply PAT certification and

RAMS documentation.

4. Consultation & Communication

EWD consults with directors, volunteers, contractors and venue management to ensure all

safety measures are understood and applied consistently.

5. Monitoring & Review

Risk assessments are reviewed whenever activities change, new equipment is introduced or

following incidents or near-misses.

6. Safeguarding Compliance

Safeguarding is a core responsibility of EWD. Both Directors, Alda Muskaj and Ensuida

Keputa, hold accredited Safeguarding Certificates, ensuring compliance with UK

Government safeguarding standards.

7. Documentation & Records

EWD maintains written records of risk assessments, RAMS, PAT testing, insurance

documents, safeguarding credentials, safety briefings and incident logs.8. Insurance Compliance & Legal Requirements

EWD holds full insurance coverage through Markel International Insurance Company

Limited, meeting legal requirements for community organisations.

Employers’ Liability Insurance: Valid from 05 Oct 2025 to 04 Oct 2026, providing

£10,000,000 cover and satisfying the Employers’ Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1969.

Public Liability Insurance: £5,000,000 cover for events, volunteers, contractors, performers,

and public attendees.

9. Integration with RAMS

For events requiring sound systems or technical equipment, EWD ensures all external

suppliers provide RAMS and PAT-tested equipment according to venue and UK safety

requirements.

10. Statement of Assurance

This comprehensive policy confirms EWD’s compliance with UK Health & Safety law,

insurance regulations, safeguarding standards and event management requirements.
